About Leon Westmoreland

My early work was almost entirely landscapes. A trip to Nashville in 2022 changed that. I was alone in an unfamiliar city with a camera and no real plan. Good conditions for paying attention. I slowed down, noticed the light more, and came back shooting differently. More deliberately.

What changed was the subject. Landscapes had always been about waiting for the right conditions. In the city I found the conditions were already there — less planning, more reacting, more noticing.

My gallery reflects that range. Urban, rural, colour, mood. What connects the images is less about style and more about the moment they were taken. My journal is where I reflect on photography — what I'm creating and what others are making.
